Whilst admiring the artistic production of Ilaria Cuccagna one can apparently deduce a particular inclination and interest in ancient sculpture or architecture and in archeology. In fact, in some of her works, it is recognisable in her sculptural forms from which one can literally see emerge, faces, figures, reliefs or bone fragments in her works) of architectural surfaces. The artistic investigation that will lead to the creation of each individual sculpture is structured in various moments, all equally important for the production and creation of the work. Ilaria Cuccagna often starts from afar, from the exploration of specific geographical areas, to the research of materials, to the knowledge of their intrinsic properties, up to the understanding of external agents that can change their characteristics over time. In essence, the "find" is not to be understood here as a desire to re-appropriate classical aesthetic forms or canons, but rather becomes part of a wider physical and intellectual process. Each element participates and contributes to the formation of an ever new narrative located in a timeless space in perpetual change.
Ilaria Cuccagna has taken part in numerous solo and group exhibitions locally and abroad.
